Katannah Sailing honors the memory of Steve Haesche, lifelong sailor and supporter of the sailing community, by enabling access to quality youth sailing experiences. In 2020 we raised almost $50k to kickstart our efforts and we have been sending kids out sailing ever since.

Through the distribution of sailing camp scholarships and grants to local, community-based sailing organizations we are helping to foster an understanding and love of the sport within a broader audience of children than currently have access. We are proud to have donated almost $25k to date.

As we close 2024, we hope you’ll consider making a gift that will help us continue our work.

Anyone who knew Steve Haesche understood his passion for salt water. A long-time member of the Eastern Yacht Club, Steve cruised with his family from Maine to the Bahamas aboard their sloop "Katannah". He was an active participant in offshore racing from the 1960s through the 1990s and was always ready to donate his time and talent to pro bono and charity projects that came his way. We remember Steve's kind nature, sense of humor, quick wit and strong sense of duty. Steve passed away on July 23, 2019 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
